President And CEO Update
Dear Member:
 
I want to thank you for supporting our efforts against video lottery machines. Now that this issue is behind us, we can focus on celebrating PRHTA’s 60th Anniversary.

On June 9, PRHTA members and friends gathered to celebrate the association’s 60th anniversary with a casino night straight out of the 1950s, and all who attended agreed they hit the jackpot! Held in the luxurious Salón Royal of the Conrad Condado Plaza, the event featured a ‘50s menu prepared by Chef María Germania, the hotel’s executive chef and a Puerto Rico Culinary Team member. Kudos also goes to Eric Rodríguez,Casino Night Committee chairman, Awilda Pla, as master of ceremonies, Salvador Soto for his valuable information on the history of the tourism industry development, Anne Marie Kleis Weddings & Parties for coordinating the event, José Raúl Pérez of Edición Limitada for decorating the ballroom, Pablo Elvira & His Violins and Ran Can Can Cabaret & Burlesque for providing entertainment, and the croupiers for dealing the poker and black jack. Proceeds will go to PRHTA’s Educational Fund, and we would like to thank everyone for a wonderful evening!
 
Also on hand throughout the rest of the year are our Monthly Luncheons, which take place throughout the island. In each of these we are recognizing those individuals that have gone out of their way to help and support the Association over the years, so we hope to see you in as many of these as possible.

On October 4th, we will again hold the Industry Cup Golf Tournament. This year it will take place at Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande. And on November  4th, our 60th Anniversary celebration will culminate at the Museo de Puerto Rico with our Anniversary Gala.
 
Our Annual Convention, taking place Oct. 6th-8th, will be one to remember, as it marks our 60 years of dedication to the industry. Please remember to sign up as an exhibitor and/or sponsor and keep an eye out for an upcoming list of workshops, seminars and events tailored to this year’s theme, “Leadership Through Commitment and Innovation.”
 
We hope we can count on your attendance at these events, as they showcase the importance the Association has in Puerto Rico’s growth as a major tourism destination.
